Here it is -- the chapter you've been waiting for!  The first weekly installment of Wendy Pini's "Masque of the Red Death: Volume 2" is now up!  It's just a little taste of what is yet to come...

I haven't any teaser image from the web comic to share with fans this week, so here's a little sketch art that was included in the print edition of "Masque: Volume 1" instead...

Well, darlings, here we go again!

What a summer it's been! But now it's time to get on with the dark doings at "Prince" Prosper's mansion - something I've really been missing and eager to get back to.

When David, Audry and I entered partnership to make Masque of the Red Death a reality, Elfquest was still waiting to find its home at the right movie studio. We had no idea how long that would take - and even less of an idea that Warner Bros. would snatch Elfquest up so soon. As you can imagine, things have changed quite a bit for me regarding work and travel.

Consequently, we've altered our plans - for the better, we think - as to how the rest of the Masque tale will be presented in graphic novel form. For a number of reasons it's better for me to get the entire story done by late Spring 2009. So Go!Comi and I have agreed to two volumes instead of the originally projected three. The best part is: Masque of the Red Death Volume Two will be considerably fatter than Volume One; you won't have to wait for the third volume to learn the stunning fate of the "Prince" and those around him.

As for the web comic, how well will I be able to get the episodes up regularly on a weekly basis? Truthfully, I don't know. As i write I'm getting ready to travel to Philadelphia to attend Faerie Con 2008 as one of their guests on Oct. 10th - 12th (hope to see you there). Afterward I have business in New York. So it will be a couple of weeks before Chapter 5 Episode 2 appears. But rest assured I am committed to the Masque web comic and to you. Whenever humanly possible I will make those Friday deadlines.

Besides, Anton and Steffan are...shall we say...very persuasive. They want you to know what happened and to decide for yourselves who (if anybody) is to blame.

So, until we gather here again just a bit before Halloween for the beginning of Steffan's dazzling birthday fete (how appropriate)...

Much love,

Madame Masque

PS
Thanks for all the wonderful comments on the new Masque Two music video! We had a very enthusiastic, rowdy audience that emitted lots of satisfying wolf whistles and cat calls when we showed it at Yaoi Con!

...Yes, life often is suddenly a rollercoaster ride for artists and creators, when new opportunities show up, you waited so long for.

Same with me over here... I haven't had exhibitions for 10 years and suddenly a journalist called and wants to write about my landscapepaintings in the local newspaper...OMG  I'm overexcited and painting a lot now, although I also have this illustrationproject of a friend's netnovel going, which I also enjoy very much.

So I can imagine how thrilled and overexcited your muse must be at the moment... Especially with all your character in your head eager to tell their stories.  I will never forget the EQ cartoon in the gathrum, where the elves climb up your bed, with brushes and ink in their hands saying "C'mon, raise and shine" I can imagine this is how you feel a lot in these days with Anton and Steffan

Also being at all those cons must be so wonderful. You have moved so many people around the world and it must be wonderful to see them and hear their tales about how EQ and Masque has influenced and touched them. With me actually, EQ and you encuraged me to draw and paint, when I was 15 or 16, even when my art teacher kept telling me I have no talent at all and it helped me to dream myself away, when life wasn't so nice to me.

About Masque... I really love the new installment... I'm always dazzled by those colorful images you create via PC and I totally love how you pictured Fronda there. I also love how you captured her eyes... so alive and bright.

Oh and please don't rush yourself... I think we fans can wait, if it takes longer to finish another installment. Most of us know how important the EQ movie project is for you and I'm sure all of us know how busy and hard you are working as an artist. So please take care and don't overwork yourself...

Oh and have lots of fun at the Faerie-Con !!!!

I hope I can see some pictures from the Con and events.

Enough babbling... since I can not be there, I just wanted to let you know I keep my fingers crossed for EQ and Masque and all projects wich will follow

Love,

Julia (a.k.a Martoo)

Ahha  ah ha ha ha...I'm delighted to see volume 2 arrive at the gocomi site.  I agree with Martoo.  If it takes longer...well...both the wonderful Elfquest and Masque are labors of love that should not be compromised by the strictures of time.  I'm looking forward to the Elf Quest movie and of course always jonesing for a little more masque, but I understand too.

The Prince's invitation intrigues.  Looking forward to how the tale will be spun for masque!

Thanks so much for your creative genius!
